It's 5783; Let's Clean House

Happy New Year! Hag Sameach! Shana Tova!! Let’s prepare for the new year. Let’s clean house.

My house is a balligon. I mean a mess. I am in the process of moving again! This time it’s just room to room. But it's four rooms we are switching. Aghhh! It is so hard to think, work on my writings, focus on new projects, be creative, and it is actually depressing to me. Forget having guests over, and I love to entertain! There is no way. The bad part is that even when and if I can get the stuff shoved into a bedroom, I would go crazy knowing that the stuff needs to be organized and put in its place or thrown out.

Sadly enough, the same situation applies to our lives doesn’t it? Different areas of our heart (the rooms or chambers of our soul) need to be spring-cleaned or fall-cleaned. :-) Dirty items, wicked habits, and evil thoughts clutter and grow, and we cannot function or live for the Lord at our fullest potential.

There are areas of our hearts where we harbor secret little sins - actually some not so secret and some not so little. Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”

Likewise, weekly, there are those of us who sit in church and pretend to be pious, while each goes their separate way never considering the cause of Christ or the finality of their actions. Psalm 139:23-24 (NKJV) says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Search me, O Lord

At this time of year entering the holiday season, we need to examine our hearts intently. As a matter of fact, there is no actual time of year to examine our hearts. That’s a daily matter. Let each of us prepare our hearts and concentrate on what the Lord may want us to throw ahead of our lives.

At this time of life in our universe – a time of corruption, advancements like landing on Mars, seeing the rings of Saturn, wars, rumors of war, new pronouns for people, uncertainty, etc. – we need to be a light. We have the hope that the world is desperately seeking. Live in the presence of God daily – minute by minute. Reach out to your neighbors, mailman, garbage men, cleaners, etc. Share the love of the Messiah. Even a smile. A profound Thank You. People need encouragement. You have it, share it.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1John 4:18

Love from my heart,
